Kingmaker 10th Anniversary Campaign Begins!

Tuesday, May 7, 2019

Nearly a decade ago, the Kingmaker Adventure Path helped lead the way with an open-ended "sandbox" style adventure that encouraged exploration and conquest in a rugged wilderness. Its open-world narrative and kingdom-building elements gave players and Game Masters unparalleled freedom to explore and shape the world with their heroic actions. It has become one of the best-selling and most beloved campaigns in Pathfinder's history.

Today, we are proud to announce the Kingmaker 10th Anniversary crowdfunding campaign has begun with our friends at Game On Tabletop! You can see all the details now at KingmakerCampaign.com. Explore the books, the Add-Ons, and the Level-Ups. Help us build a bigger, better, more immersive Kingmaker campaign.

Together, we'll take your new kingdom—and the Kingmaker campaign—to new heights of power!

Make your pledge on Game On Tabletop!

Backed, really looking forward to running this hopefully both online and for local kids.

15 days and 50k$ to go, curious how this will run.

Thanks for including some options for classic Pathfinder.

Nice add-ons! The Forest Campaign Compendium is a brilliant addition to anyone's Kingmaker game.

Here is hoping it can hit 100k for that sweet pawn box

I'm definitely wishing there were something 'more' -- some sort of tier between the Spymaster/Ruler and Grand Diplomat type things. Autographed copies of the special edition books? Art prints? Don't really know what I'd want, but I'm the type of person who often backs big in KSers, but don't see the upside for something beyond just a Spymaster + a couple of addons. If it were KS, I would have just over-pledged as a donation/eventual add-ons, but Game On doesn't really like that model.

Also, while I'm looking forward to the Pawns, I have to admit that getting the companion book fleshed out from its starting size to the larger size and/or other bonus content would have been a lot more exciting than a large jump from the initial funding goal to the first stretch goal.

is that the final cover for the adventure path hardcover?

First off I’m blind. I’d love to pledge for this project, but every time I click on either KingmakerCampaign.com. or the Make your pledge on Game On Tabletop! Links I get a bunch of garbled speech. I use speech reading software. I’ve had someone look at the screen and it is all in English, so I don’t know where the problem lies. Just thought someone should know.

Valantrix1, what speech reader program are you using, and what browser are you viewing it with? (Just trying to gather more technical information so they can update the code for the site, if indeed it is a coding issue on their end.)

Is it really $999.00 shipping for the $100.00 print/pdf/slipcase ?

Props to making it 1E compatible. Now I must put my money where my mouth was. Well played, sirs, well played.

That seems excessive. :) Check out the FAQ list on the crowdfunding page, there was a mention of this issue.

My screen reader software is JAWS. I've tried using multiple browsers with the same results. Firefox, IE, Edge.

I love how Paizo is partnering with Legendary Games for this. Bravo all around! :D

… And backed! It'll be nice to have a campaign on hand, in one volume with an included PDF.

Curious why you went this route instead of Kickstarter?

Regardless it looks like it will be worth backing!

From the FAQ:

Quote:
Paizo has been partners with the team behind Game On Tabletop for years, and we've watched the development of this gamer-focused crowdfunding platform for some time. We've seen other campaigns migrate over to Game On Tabletop to manage the back end of the campaign as well, and it just made sense of us to leverage the same platform for both launch and the back end.

Wise move to continue to support first edition. I know so many gamers that just aren't going to be playing second.

Welp, the Legendary Games email was enough to get me in for PDFs and a physical copy of the 1e Bestiary.

One last hurrah for 1e, then.

This is awesome! I will absolutely back this!

Kingmaker is the perfect AP to port to Pathfinder Second Edition since everything you need is built into the chassis of the core rules. I'll get this and the "Age of Ashes" to start off Second Edition.

I'll have Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition and Curse of the Crimson Throne Hardcover to say farewell to First Edition while I wait for Second Edition to spin up. Exciting times for gamers!

How are we going to add the add-ons as they unlock once we back the project?

Liberty's Edge

I am SO watching that TBD RPG session later.

My only complaint is there isn't a "buck" tier where you can pledge and just include add-ons.
I don't want to play $50 for PDFs of an Adventure Path I already own (physically) and a companion guide of NPCs from a video game I'm never going to play for an unreleased game system I didn't enjoy during playtest.
I just want the 5e Bestiary, so I can update my PF1 AP and finally get a chance to play that...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Man, I wish this was on Kickstarter instead... gameontabletop is telling me that I've paid for the project but also says I have to pay the exact same amount...
So I think I've paid?
It also looks like you can't change your pledge or add any add-ons after you've paid?

I've e-mailed the website asking about this; hopefully I have an answer by the morning because this is leaving a terrible first impression on me.

And I just saw that the 50 x Weight Markers are other, unknown things that may get unlocked later?
It's unfortunate that things aren't being clearly presented. I may have backed a higher tier if I knew what the different tiers were actually going to receive.

You can go back into your pledge and add further items. It tracks what you paid previously, as long as you create a login.

Thank you, TOZ!
The way it's presented on the site seems a little counter-intuitive to me.

Adding to the pledge was easy, I switched mine to the early bird special, and it just charged me the difference instead. Probably tomorrow or the next day I'll add the Pawns when they unlock

Good for those that want it that there is a 1E Bestiary (& conversion) book too! I'm in for the slipcase (loverly),the 5E bestiary, and hanging around for the still hidden map folio to be unlocked!

Question concerning the Early Bird Spymaster pledge level.

It's called "Spymaster (Early Bird Ruler)" and the description mentions that it includes "all Ruler-level unlocks".

My question is what in the world is the Ruler pledge level? I can't seem to find any description of something called a Ruler pledge level. There seems to be descriptions of Counselor, Marshal, General, Guildmaster, etc., but no mention is made of a Ruler pledge level.

It´s at 175%, just $12,317 to make the "Kingmaker pawn box" a reality!

The cool thing is that this is no mere pawn collecton with 8 sheets, but an entire box with hundreds of creatures and it also includes the plastic bases for small/medium, large & huge creatures.

It will be interesting to see which creatures will be in it, as new 5E creatures are also included in addition to the Pathfinder 1E & 2E ones.

The sample pawns shown are a "Giant Tatzlwyrm", a "Stolen Lands Bandit" & some kind of female Fey creature i can´t identify.

It would be nice if it was a freebie :) but it's going to be (most likely) at least a $40 add-on. In addition I suspect it will bump the postage up by $10 considering how heavy the box will be.

Not sure why there would be new 5E creatures in it? Or do you mean that the Kingmaker AP has creatures new to 5E. If so, that has to do with the 5E Bestiary not the pawn set.

It´s way to costly to produce to be a freebie.

I agree with your estimate, it will be between $40 and $50 imo.
From the gameon tabletop page:

"With your continued support we can unlock our first add-on product, the Kingmaker Pawn Box, a collection of hundreds of creature pawns for use in your Kingmaker campaign. Printed on sturdy cardstock, each pawn contains a beautiful full-color image of a monster or character from the Kingmaker Adventure Path, including creatures appearing in the Kingmaker Bestiary for 5E."

My interpretation of that comment was that the pawn set would include creature pawns previously printed in other Pathfinder Pawn sets, so that 5E players don't have to go and buy other boxes to be completely covered.

Normally they'd try to avoid reprinting things; for example if I recall correctly the Rise of the Runelords set assumed you already had a pawn set or two - and only topped up the number of creatures previously provided if a lot of that particular kind were required.

Gotta get those pawns!!!

In the FAQ at the bottom, it says you pay as soon as you pledge and that you may increase your pledge for add-ons as needed.

Ruler will replace Spymaster, at the 24 hour mark. It will be identical to Spymaster, just $150 (so $10 more).

Ruler-level unlocks refers to Level-Ups (stretch goals in Kickstarter-speak). Some are add-ons that you need to pay for, but some are just things that people will get. For example, everyone that gets a Companion Guide (General and up) will get a bigger book if and when the campaign hits $150, per the Companion Guide Expansion level-up. Presumably there will be future level-ups that everyone at the Ruler/(Spymaster) level can get.

Clever cloggins, getting a grumpy old 1e enthusiast to pledge and also giving him 2e content to tempt a comparison/trial... :)

Only $3K to go to reach the first unlock after 18 hours.
I am sure that the second unlock will be reached within the first 24 hours too.

It was listed for the first hour at launch. Then they removed it. I guess to make sure no one picked instead of spymaster.

Given Game On ( which I highly dislike compared to KS) model of capture funds immediately, I can understand why paizo didn't want to have to deal with refunding lots if people $10 when they realized they should have picked spymaster instead of ruler

Is it an exclusive or it will be available via normal chanel when released?

I'm surprised there's no World Guide to go with the adventure. It would be cool to have a 2E guide to the River Kingdoms or to the First World itself. Hope to see one of those as future add-on as we level-up.

Some things, like the Hero Point tokens won´t.

While I wish there was a way for me to just throw in $10 and add-on the 5e Bestiary, I LOVE that Paizo listened to the fans and is including a PF 1e Bestiary.
Very classy.

Do we know how much the hardcover will cost for non-backers when this releases to the general public? I assume more than $80
